“Tough” would be quite an understatement to describe the decision the Alumni Board had to make. We had a lot of wonderful submissions made by extremely talented people. It was amazing watching the range of voices, styles, and prompt-interpretation within each video. We received submissions from both coasts, and everywhere in between, of the United States, and eight different countries in total, highlighting both the unique diversity of delegates in this contest, and how far-reaching it was. After narrowing it down to a small pool of contestants, we started looking for details. Things like creativity in both speech content and video editing and style weighed heavily in our final decision.
Despite the fact that it was a Leviathan task to choose a winner from this talented pool, the Alumni Board has reached a consensus. Apart from the cutting-edge speech the winner uses (proposing a totally different answer to the issue), the video effects as well as the creative rhetoric were wholly convincing. Thus, the Alumni Board announces that the MUNI Speech Contest winner – the winner of a full scholarship (valued between $850-$1000) to a MUNI program for the summer of 2016 – is…
Marcel Lee! Congratulations Marcel! We can’t wait to meet you this summer!
The video quality and the speech structure of Jorge Stefanell were flawless. At the same time, he uses a wide range of complex delegate skills in his video. Therefore, he has been awarded as the Outstanding Delegate! Jorge, apart from receiving a certificate that shows his success, will receive a MUNI swag bundle, a tote, a MUNI t-shirt, and a UN flag.
Siddharta Ariga’s techniques of public speaking were the ones of a seasoned delegate. With his tenacious speech, he successfully manages to get the audience invested in his rhetoric. For all that, including the originality of the structure he uses, the Alumni Board awards him 3rd place, the Honourable Mention! Brilliantly done Siddharta!
Her inspiring speech as well as the passion and determination helped Eliza Pervanidi lock up a Verbal Commendation. She easily manages to catch the listener’s attention with her performance and gets her point across very well. Congratulations Eliza!
Professionalism and originality could be two appropriate words to describe the speech of Hana Basheer. Due to her voice, her style of addressing the issue she talks about and the delegate skills she shows, the Alumni Board has awarded Hana with a Verbal Commendation as well. Congrats to you too, Hana!
Both Eliza and Hana, as winners of the Verbal Commendation, will receive a certificate as a commemoration of their achievement and a MUNI water bottle.
Congratulations to all delegates! We sincerely thank you for your participation. The MUN Institute hopes to see you this summer and all around the world on the Model UN circuit!
