Level 2: Ambassador

A Ambassador

Honorable Mention. Outstanding. Best Delegate.

The Ambassador Program is Level 2 of the MUN Institute. The program is designed for high school students ages 14-18 who have MUN experience and want to improve their MUN skills and become leaders in their MUN committees.

In our advanced Ambassador Program, delegates learn the intricacies of global issues and how to solve them by utilizing high-level Model UN strategies.

We know how exciting it is when you’ve won your first award at a major MUN conference – but Model UN is about more than the awards. You work hard because it pushes you to learn and improve in research, public speaking, resolution writing, negotiation, critical thinking, and leadership.

The Ambassador Program can elevate students’ MUN skills to the next level of competition – students will learn advanced Model UN skills and strategy, such as:

  • How to write award-winning position papers using our SPEAR policy research framework;
  • How to improve public speaking & debate skills, like “framing the debate” using political framing theory, and create solution frameworks that “stick” in the minds of other students;
  • Advanced resolution writing and negotiation skills, including social dynamics, bloc building, and shuttle diplomacy;
  • Advanced Model UN strategies, including the “5 Stages of Simulation,” competitive versus collaborative strategies, and how to position yourself for awards.

Students get daily one-on-one feedback on their MUN skills, especially on their public speaking skills. Our MUN Mentors are the best and most successful MUNers from prestigious colleges in North America and around the world. Our Mentors guide students through MUN simulations, including an all-day final simulation at the end of the week.

Level 3: Crisis

C Crisis

Crisis committees are the biggest trend in Model United Nations.

Take command in exciting, fast-paced simulations of world leaders.

Make rapid-fire decisions in a constantly evolving committee experience.

The Crisis Program is Level 3 of the MUN Institute. The program is designed for high school students ages 14-18 with MUN experience who already participate in crisis committees, or are interested in moving from traditional MUN to crisis.

For high school students, crisis is the next step up from traditional MUN. Crisis MUN simulates how the highest levels of national government, from the White House to the Kremlin, respond to national security threats, including terrorism, natural disasters, and economic collapse.

The Crisis Program offers unique learning opportunities for students. Our program teaches students how to conduct in-depth research of government policy, how to debate persuasively, and how to think on their feet. Crisis MUN teaches students how to continue leading even when all of their strategies and planning fall apart in the midst of dramatic crisis situations.

The Crisis Program teaches students advanced Model UN skills and strategy specifically for crisis committees.
Students learn:

  • How to speak, debate, and argue persuasively in the small group setting of a crisis committee;
  • How to research effectively for their assigned positions and topics, and anticipate potential crisis situations;
  • How real-world leaders have to make decisions about emerging crisis situations by utilizing theories of International Relations;
  • How to rapidly write directives, communiques, and crisis notes, and how to work with the Crisis committee staff;
  • How to become leaders in a crisis committee and position themselves for awards at MUN conferences;
  • And much, much more.

MUN Mentors provide students with daily one-on-one feedback on their MUN skills and advice on how to become leaders in crisis committee. Our MUN Mentors are some of the top crisis delegates at the competitive college level, winning myriad awards and organizing crises for hundreds of students at their own conferences.
